A travel warning has been issued for Bali because of fears of a volcano eruption there.

With regards to your travel insurance, here’s what you need to know.

Not all Singapore travel insurance companies will reimburse you. In fact, Budget Direct Insurance is one of the few Singapore insurers that will cover you in these circumstances.

We would like to re-assure our customers at Budget Direct Insurance that your policy, either single trip or annual, will cover you if:

* You bought the insurance policy before the travel warning by the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs was announced in the media.

* If you buy your insurance policy once the event is known within the media or following an announcement then your policy will not cover you.

A spokesperson for Budget Direct Insurance said: “We understand that the recent events in Bali have caused a lot of confusion and panic. Rest assured if you bought your policy with us before the travel warning announcement by the MFA then you will be able to make a claim on your policy.”

As always, Travel cover varies from policy to policy so it’s important to read the policy documents to ensure you know exactly what you’re covered for.
