Budget Direct Insurance will be covering the costs of our policyholders’ medical teleconsultations with the panel of Singapore-licensed medical doctors provided on the MyDoc platform.

If you think you have been exposed to COVID-19 and have developed a cough, fever or other symptoms, you no longer need to leave your home to get in touch with a qualified medical professional for a consultation.

Car, motorcycle and annual travel policyholders can register themselves on the MyDoc platform for free teleconsultations related to COVID-19 at any time from 14 April 2020 until further notice.

The Budget Direct COVID-19 Virtual Clinic is equipped to provide timely assessments to alleviate any worries that may stem from misinformation associated with COVID-19.

Through the virtual clinic on the MyDoc platform, customers can conduct an initial self-assessment related to their symptoms and travel histories. The platform will then identify and classify suspected cases, referring patients to a video chat with a Singapore-registered doctor from the MyDoc team for a face-to-face assessment. Next steps may include referrals or prescriptions made by the MyDoc panel of doctors, such as an in-person examination at a government hospital or over-the-counter medication advice. #

You are also able to access the triage consultations as many times as you require on this unlimited service via mobile, desktop or tablet.

*This free medical teleconsultation service is only applicable to annual car, motorcycle and travel insurance policyholders who experience respiratory/flu-like symptoms related to COVID-19, including runny nose, sore throat, cough, fever or difficulty breathing. Assessments through the MyDoc platform will not be available for other illnesses, diseases or injuries.

This is a triage assessment teleconsultation service created in partnership with MyDoc Private Limited (“MyDoc”), specifically in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

A dedicated team of Singapore-licensed doctors from MyDoc will assess your risk and address your concerns. They are also equipped to provide follow-up advice based on your symptoms.

MyDoc is a regional digital healthcare company, named 2020 Singapore Telehealth Company of the Year by Frost & Sullivan. MyDoc’s platform works with trusted healthcare partners and enables secure chat and video consults with medical professionals. MyDoc is part of the Singapore Ministry of Health sandbox and is backed by UST Global, a Temasek-backed global B2B technology provider.

What is a triage consultation?

In medical use, triage is the assignment of degrees of urgency to wounds or illnesses to decide the order of treatment of a large number of patients or casualties.

In other words, the Budget Direct COVID-19 Virtual Clinic on the MyDoc platform will conduct an initial assessment to determine your level of risk of having caught the virus and provide follow-up recommendations where necessary.

Who is eligible to use it?

All Budget Direct Insurance annual car, motorcycle or travel policyholders who are experiencing respiratory/flu-like symptoms or who have concerns that they would like to address in relation to the COVID-19 virus. The virtual clinic is ready to provide timely triage assessments to alleviate any worries that may stem from misinformation and general panic associated with the condition.

Who can apply for Budget Direct Insurance’s COVID-19 Virtual Clinic?

This complimentary COVID-19 Virtual Clinic is available exclusively to Budget Direct Insurance customers only, who are active annual insurance policyholders of Budget Direct Insurance. You will be required to provide your NRIC and Buddy ID as part of the registration process on MyDoc’s platform.

How long will I have access to this Virtual Clinic?

The Budget Direct Insurance Virtual Clinic will be made available to all eligible customers from 14 April 2020 through to 13 July 2020. Should access be extended, customers will be notified via an email or SMS.

Does your travel insurance cover Overseas Medical Expenses, Trip Cancellations or Trip Delays in relation to COVID-19?

We do not cover any claims related to epidemics or pandemics, with some minor exceptions based on insurance policy purchase date. What are the clinic’s operating hours?

The Budget Direct COVID-19 Virtual Clinic teleconsultation services are provided by MyDoc’s panel of Singapore-based doctors and is open daily from 8am to 10pm (Singapore time).

In what language(s) is the service available?

The assessments are conducted in English, with limited availability in Chinese, Malay, Thai and Vietnamese.

I’m located in a country outside of Singapore. Are there any issues if I consult one of the Singapore-registered MyDoc medical practitioners on the Budget Direct COVID-19 Virtual Clinic while abroad?

Because the Budget Direct COVID-19 Virtual Clinic provides triage assessments, MyDoc's panel of Singapore-based doctors are able to offer the service in other countries throughout the world as a second opinion. The virtual clinic is manned by Singapore-licensed doctors in accordance with the Singapore Ministry of Health guidelines, and all protocols will be followed when providing triage assessments for individuals located in other countries.

What if I need medications? Does this service include medications?

Medications are not provided in this free triage consultation service. If required, your COVID-19 Virtual Clinic doctor will prescribe medication(s) to you which will have to be dispensed at a pharmacy at your own expense. Note that further tests, imaging, examinations, in-person consultations are not covered in this free triage consultation service. Fees for any follow-up actions, including but not limited to in-person clinic or hospital visits, are also not covered.

What happens if a patient shows symptoms that are consistent with COVID-19?

During the assessment, patients will be evaluated based on their risk of being infected with COVID-19 and will be advised on precautionary measures. If a patient is assessed by a MyDoc doctor to meet case suspect criteria or is suffering from moderate to severe symptoms, they will be triaged into a higher risk category.

Follow-up actions may include referrals or prescriptions made by the MyDoc panel of doctors, such as an in-person examination at a government hospital. Kindly note that fees for any medications, further tests, imaging, examinations or in-person consultations are not covered in this free triage consultation service.

Can I use this service for other illnesses that are not related to COVID-19?

This service is only applicable for those who are experiencing respiratory/flu-like symptoms or have concerns that they would like to address regarding the COVID-19 virus. As we are committed to your privacy, we do not share your personal details with third-party providers. Budget Direct COVID-19 Virtual Clinic is managed and operated by MyDoc, a third-party service provider. You will therefore need to register with MyDoc if you would like to access the Budget Direct COVID-19 Virtual Clinic on the MyDoc platform.

Who can see my information?

Your personal details on the MyDoc platform will be requested only during your first consultation. This information will be saved to your profile and viewable only by the healthcare professionals attending to you on MyDoc. This information can be updated by you on their platform at any time.

Campaign Terms & Conditions


  1. Complimentary access to Budget Direct COVID-19 Virtual Clinic (“Campaign”) is only available to customers (each, an “Eligible Customer”):
    1. who are active policyholders of Budget Direct Insurance's Car, Motorcycle or Annual Travel policy (“Policyholder”);
    2. who use their unique Buddy ID to register an account with MyDoc’s website or app platforms (“MyDoc Platforms”) from 14 April 2020 to 13 July 2020 (“Campaign Period”); and
    3. Who are experiencing respiratory/flu-like symptoms related to COVID-19, including runny nose, sore throat, cough, fever or difficulty breathing.
  2. Teleconsultation services provided by MyDoc’s panel of Singapore-registered medical practitioners (“MyDoc Doctors”) are available on the MyDoc Platforms from 8am to 10pm daily (Singapore time). Assessments made by MyDoc Doctors through Budget Direct COVID-19 Virtual Clinic will not be available for symptoms not related to COVID-19, other illnesses, diseases or injuries.
  3. There is no limit on the number of teleconsultation sessions with MyDoc Doctors for each Eligible Customer during the Campaign Period. While Budget Direct Insurance will absorb the cost of each teleconsultation to an Eligible Customer, the costs for any prescribed medication(s) at a pharmacy and other follow-up actions or refererrals (including but not limited to further tests, imaging, examinations, consultations, in-person clinic or hospital visits) are not covered by the Campaign and will have to be at the Eligible Customer’s own expense.
  4. Budget Direct COVID-19 Virtual Clinic available on the MyDoc website and MyDoc app is not managed or operated by Budget Direct Insurance. Budget Direct Insurance has partnered with MyDoc Private Limited (“MyDoc”), an independent third-party service provider, to bring this virtual clinic triage service to Budget Direct Insurance’s customers.
  5. Budget Direct Insurance shall not be held responsible or liable in any way for any assessment, outcome, medical advice or information provided during the teleconsultation(s) or any act, omission or statement made by MyDoc Doctors, arising from or in connection with the Campaign.
  6. The terms and conditions of this Campaign may be amended by Budget Direct Insurance at any time without notice or incurring liability to any party. The decision of Budget Direct Insurance is final. Any updates to these terms and conditions will be published on the website of Budget Direct Insurance at budgetdirect.com.sg.
