Why is there no longer a premium discount when I use my/my friend’s Buddy ID to buy a policy?
We have replaced the premium discount with e-shopping vouchers for customers who buy using a Buddy ID.
Please note, the e-shopping vouchers are rewarded to customers who created a quote via a friend’s Buddy ID Referral Link from 26 August 2022 onwards.
Policy purchase based on quotations created using a friend’s Buddy ID Referral Link before 26 August 2022 will still receive a 5% discount off their premium for any Car, Motorcycle or Travel insurance policy.

Terms and Conditions - Buddy ID Additional Policy Program
The terms and conditions set out below apply to the Budget Direct Insurance Buddy ID Additional Policy Programme (the “Buddy ID Additional Policy Programme”):
Purchase of Additional Policies
- Under the Buddy ID Additional Policy Programme, the customer has a Buddy ID issued to him/her by Budget Direct Insurance (“Existing Customer”). The Existing Customer will get rewards when buying the next one or more additional policies from Budget Direct Insurance (each, an “Additional Policy”) using his/her own Buddy ID, in the following manner:
When the Existing Customer uses own Buddy ID for the subsequent purchase of an Additional Policy: Premium (after GST and applicable discount) Existing Customer receives e-shopping vouchers worth: Car Insurance $800 or more $50 Less than $800 $20 Motorcycle Insurance Any premium amount $20 Annual Travel Insurance Any premium amount $10 Single Trip Travel Insurance $30 and more $5 - The Additional Policy must not, at the time of purchase, cover the same subject matter as any of the Existing Customer's existing policies with Budget Direct Insurance (where the Existing Customer is the policyholder).
- The rewards under the Buddy ID Additional Policy Programme do not apply to the Additional Policy if there is any renewal, endorsement, extension, shortening or cancellation of any existing policy of the Existing Customer (covering the same subject matter as the Additional Policy).
- If there is any change made to an existing policy of the Existing Customer (whether or not during renewal), such existing policy with the change(s) is not considered an Additional Policy.
General
- Unless otherwise stated, the rewards under the Buddy ID Additional Policy Programme will apply on top of any existing promotions, discounts, offers, vouchers, rebates, incentives or privileges (except for discounts under Budget Direct Insurance’s Affinity ID Programme).
- The terms and conditions of the Buddy ID Additional Policy Programme may be amended by Budget Direct Insurance at any time without notice or incurring liability to any party.
- The decision of Budget Direct Insurance on all matters relating to the Buddy ID Additional Policy Programme is final. Any updates to these terms and conditions will be published on budgetdirect.com.sg.
