Motorists offered reward money to report bad drivers and motorcyclists to insurer.
SINGAPORE, September 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Budget Direct Insurance is offering thousands of dollars reward money to motorists in exchange for their ‘dashcam video’ footage of risky drivers and motorcyclists.
The leading online insurer aims to avoid insuring the offending motorists caught on camera and prevent them from buying car and motorcycle insurance with Budget Direct Insurance.
It is all part of a bold move to promote safer driving in Singapore says the online insurer who hopes its initiative to ‘name and boycott’ will deter risky driving behavior.
The Drive Safe Today campaign is also in line with the insurer’s strategy to target insuring those with a good track record, thereby keeping claims down and ensuring lower premium prices for all its customers.
Simon Birch, CEO of Budget Direct Insurance, said the campaign should help to focus the spotlight on dangerous motorists and at the same time deter such risky behavior on the roads.
He said: “There are several online sites filled with footage of bad drivers. We are planning to go one step further by not only rewarding motorists for sending in their videos but also boycotting the risky drivers and their vehicles from being insured with us.”
He added: “We are currently leading the way when it comes to rewarding safe drivers. We offer one of the biggest discounts for safe drivers with premiums more than halved for those with a 50% No Claims Discount. For the initiative, Budget Direct Insurance has teamed up with online motoring site Beh Chia Lor, whose aim is to improve road safety. Motorists will need to submit their dashcam footage via them and based on a selection criteria that assesses the risky driving shown and the road safety message value, participants will then be rewarded. The top 50 videos submitted and selected by a panel consisting of the Beh Chia Lor team and a representative from Budget Direct Insurance, will each get $100 worth of prizes.
